Moving to Goa: A Newcomer's First-Month Guide

The logistics of moving to Goa are the easy part. Get a local sim, rent a scooter, find a place north or south depending on whether you want buzz or quiet, and learn which shops actually open on time (fewer than you hope).

The harder part is belonging. Goa runs on relationships, on the neighbour who lends you a ladder and the aunty who saves you the good mangoes. You build that one warm interaction at a time.

Eat where locals eat, learn five words of Konkani, and accept invitations even when you are tired. Especially when you are tired.

And when the homesickness hits, as it does around week three, find a table. Sharing a home-cooked meal with people who were once new here too is the fastest cure we know.
